(New Valentine's title) Romantic comedies were popular in 18th century England and none more so than this greatest of English comic novels. Tom Jones, a foundling, falls in love with the beautiful daughter of the neigbouring squire. This coming-of-age quest for happiness is fraught with trials and bawdy adventures including some sticky romantic entanglements.

I use the British Library often for research, but I LOVE adopting books as gifts for people. My most recent adoption was in honor of my English professor in college. I am not just a literary scholar because of her influence--I am also a better human being.
