One of Hardy's most famous novels, this story tells of the love between honest shepherd Gabriel Oak and the proud, independent Bathsheba Everdene. It explores the disastrous effects when characters make the wrong choices in the name of love but ultimately focuses the light on the redemptive powers of love.

I use the British Library often for research, but I LOVE adopting books as gifts for people. My most recent adoption was in honor of my English professor in college. I am not just a literary scholar because of her influence--I am also a better human being.
