Conservation appeal
Help us save the stories that shaped history
From the notes of Leonardo da Vinci to your favourite childhood books: it's all at your fingertips at the Library.
Our conservation team spend over 1,000 hours each month conserving at-risk items in our collection. We do this so that everyone has access to the stories that shaped history.
As a charity, we rely on donations to help make all this possible. That's why we launched an appeal in 2023 to raise £20,000 to conserve a wide range of items, from the medieval manuscript that annulled King Henry VIII's marriage to Anne of Cleves to beloved children's books from the 1700s that preserve doodles by their past owners.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped raise over £26,000 towards this vital work. While this appeal has now ended, any donation you make towards our conservation work will still have such a positive impact, helping us preserve our collection and the extraordinary stories within it for future generations.
How can I help?
Our sincere thanks go to David and Kate Barclay, The Corcoran Foundation, The Vogel-Denebeim Family and Justin Zaremby for generously agreeing to match the first £10,000 of donations towards our conservation work.
