English Housewifery (1785)

by Elizabeth Moxon Return to list Adopt this book

This classic Moxon title has over 400 recipes from apple dumplings to fricassy of lamb, as well as a fold-out spread of seasonal fish and table setting illustrations, some with over 15 different dishes for one course! A contrast to today's popular "quick meal" recipe books and a perfect adoption for those who love to cook and eat.

I use the British Library often for research, but I LOVE adopting books as gifts for people. My most recent adoption was in honor of my English professor in college. I am not just a literary scholar because of her influence--I am also a better human being.

My daughter and I both love the ambiance of the British Library and feel proud to be Readers. Supporting the Adopt a Book scheme is the least I can do.
