Townsend was a Design Master at the Royal School of Needlework and wrote this book "in response to student inquiries for a handbook on embroideries". This beautiful, gilt-edged edition includes over 50 illustrations and chapters on design, utility and adaptation. A perfect adoption for needlework enthusiasts.

I use the British Library often for research, but I LOVE adopting books as gifts for people. My most recent adoption was in honor of my English professor in college. I am not just a literary scholar because of her influence--I am also a better human being.
