Jim Hawkins’ adventures with Long John Silver had an indelible effect on literature –forever more pirates had parrots on their shoulders, drank rum and searched for treasure where X marked the spot. A rollicking adventure for children and those still young at heart.

I use the British Library often for research, but I LOVE adopting books as gifts for people. My most recent adoption was in honor of my English professor in college. I am not just a literary scholar because of her influence--I am also a better human being.
