The British Cookery Book (1864)

by J. H. Walsh (Editor) Return to list Adopt this book

This edition of The British Cookery Book includes charming illustrations of kitchen ranges and utensils, chapters such as "the principles of carving" and many recipes, even one for a "refreshing fever drink." Adapted for every day use in English kitchens by a "committee of ladies," this title makes a great adoption for those interested in the history of British cookery.

I use the British Library often for research, but I LOVE adopting books as gifts for people. My most recent adoption was in honor of my English professor in college. I am not just a literary scholar because of her influence--I am also a better human being.

My daughter and I both love the ambiance of the British Library and feel proud to be Readers. Supporting the Adopt a Book scheme is the least I can do.
