Our learning centre re-opened in September 2012 following its transformation into a bright and spacious environment, equipped with facilities for learners of all ages.

Writing Britain Learning Workshop

With the support of generous donors including the Dorset Foundation, the Wolfson Foundation, the John Lyon’s Charity and The British Library Patrons the Library raised £500,000 to refurbish the existing space and improve and enrich the experience of learning at the Library.

The new learning centre is equipped with the most up to date facilities, including:

  • Cutting-edge facilities to support digital literacy skills
  • Space to get close to our collection of historic manuscripts, maps and letters
  • Technology to access and enjoy the Library’s collection of diverse sound recordings
  • A creative environment for personal study and schools workshops

The newly opened centre has been received well by both teachers and students.

The Harry M Weinrebe Learning Centre enables us to provide a much richer learning experience – particularly in relation to digital research skills.
