Simon Callow Reads Charles Dickens
On 20 February the Library welcomed acclaimed actor and writer Simon Callow to talk about his new book Charles Dickens and the Great Theatre of the World.
Callow portrays Dickens as a man driven as much by performance and showmanship as by literary endeavour. The audience delighted in Callow’s dramatic and humorous readings of Dickens’s famous characters.

Maps provide a fascinating insight into our history, and I marvel at the skill of the early mapmakers. My own collection is constantly on view at home, and they always provide a focus for discussions. I am very grateful to the British Library for looking after our heritage, in the form of old maps.
