Out Of This World
Science Fiction is back! Our current exhibition Out of This World which is open until September 25 aims to challenge visitors' perceptions of the genre and explore its relationship with science. Books on show at the exhibition, include a first edition of Thomas More's Utopia and rare copies of the Bronte’s manuscripts.
Sci-fi author China Mieville took BBC News on a tour of the exhibition to explain the genre's importance and lasting appeal.
I cannot remember a time when books were not central to my life. The BL is guardian of a priceless common heritage which can enrich the lives of future generations, as it has done for us. Cherish the verbal record in good times and bad!
