The Library’s vital Conservation work has been boosted by gifts totalling more than £700,000, thanks to the generosity of thousands of Adopt A Book donors.

Head of Conservation, Cordelia Rogerson, believes that Adopt A Book has a considerable impact on the Library’s conservation work. She commented,

“Adopt A Book makes a great difference to us. We are able to employ a specialist, highly skilled Conservator to undertake delicate and detailed conservation on some of our most vulnerable collection items, ensuring that future generations of Readers will be able to benefit from them.

In addition, Adopt A Book donors are passionate about their chosen books! We love to hear why they have decided to adopt a particular book and we have heard some remarkable stories over the years."

Why not share your personal experience with other donors?

I cannot remember a time when books were not central to my life. The BL is guardian of a priceless common heritage which can enrich the lives of future generations, as it has done for us. Cherish the verbal record in good times and bad!

My mother- in -law was a very talented artist and book binder. She rebound many books, and supporting the conservation of beautiful books is a very fitting way to celebrate her life
