Successful projects: Malay manuscripts
The British Library has now completed the first year of its project to digitise all of its Malay manuscripts, in collaboration with the National Library of Singapore and with funding generously provided by William and Judy Bollinger.
The collection consists of about 100 volumes and over 300 documents. There are three distinct areas - Malay manuscripts, early maps of Singapore, and papers relating to Sir Stamford Raffles. The items covered are in some cases exquisite hand drawn manuscripts and include some rare and precious items. A complete list of the many items digitised so far can be found here.
The manuscripts are being made available on our Digitised Manuscripts site, and will also be accessible on the National Library of Singapore's BookSG site.
