    • I am a regular visitor to the BL to support my reasearch. I believe that the nation should hold on to precious British items such as the St Cuthbert Gospel.

    • As a long term user of the British Library collections, the idea of giving a book adoption to celebrate my father's 100th birthday appealed - especially as all his life he has collected books, and in retirement (and even now) binds and repairs many hundreds of old books as a hobby.

    • My connections with the British Library are scientific in nature. John Keats has scientific links with King's College London and so I adopted The Eve of St. Agnes and Other Poems.

    • My wife and I walk past the British Library from time to time and today decided to enter. We found the gallery and I was delighted to see the St Cuthbert Gospel. I felt I had to make a small contribution.

    • I am a senior citizen and was brought up with books. I love reading and I love books. I think it is so important to support the collecting and reading of books - and the thought of a book that has lasted as long as St. Cuthbert's I find absolutely thrilling!

    • I travelled to London with my mom from Chicago for the first time in 2000. As bibliophiles and anglophiles, we couldn't get enough of the handwritten pages from the likes of Lewis Carroll, Charlotte Bronte and the Beatles. Seeing the stories as they were being written electrified and hypnotized me. Add to that the Library's stellar exhibitions and its great website (which helps those of us who are far away get a window into the wonders that are between the Library walls), and it's a slam dunk for me to do something to help make sure the British Library is around and keeping up the excellent work for a long time.

    • We go to the British Library frequently, Janet for exhibitions and Peter for chemistry research. Every time, we visit the Lindisfarne Gospels, a world treasure. And now the St Cuthbert Gospel is on display as well! Wonderful!

    • I studied Anglo-Saxon Archaeology at Bristol University with a wonderful lecturer, Dr Basil Cottle. He brought the art of the period, including St Cuthbert's relics, wonderfully alive for us and would like the British Library to care for this book permanently.
